This loop trail offers a pleasant mix of larch forests, clearings, and open alpine meadows where panoramic views of the Durance Valley and the surrounding mountains gradually unfold.
Throughout the hike, the atmosphere changes with the rhythm of the mountains: the tranquility of the forest floor gives way to pastoral landscapes where the view stretches out over the neighboring peaks. In summer, the rich alpine flora accompanies the hike, while the cool shade of the larch trees makes for a particularly pleasant walk.
With its moderate elevation gain, this hike offers an excellent balance between exertion and enjoyment. It will appeal to active families as well as hikers looking to enjoy a lovely half-day in the mountains without tackling a route that’s too demanding.

Hiking guide: The hike starts at the snow front (D1) to the left of the chairlift. . The hike begins to the right of the R2 chairlift; you’ll then pass underneath it to end up to the left of the same chairlift. You’ll find yourself on the forest road connecting Risoul to Vars, and then, on your right, a directional sign will indicate that you should turn; and the ascent begins until you reach an altitude of about 2,300 meters. The trail passes under the “Plate de la Nonne” chairlift; after a short climb of a few meters, you can begin the descent back to the resort.
