The Historic Trail invites you to discover another side of Risoul, where nature and local heritage come together.
The Historic Trail invites you to discover another side of Risoul, where nature and local heritage come together.
This route partly follows the former road linking Risoul Village to Risoul 1850, once used by local residents, farmers and shepherds to reach the mountain pastures.
As you walk, the scenery alternates between beautiful larch forests, alpine meadows and open clearings, offering magnificent views over the Durance Valley. Along the way, numerous traditional mountain huts and historic buildings bear witness to the pastoral life that has shaped these mountains for generations.
Far from the hustle and bustle, this hike encourages you to slow down, admire the scenery, imagine life in the past and discover a mountain heritage that is still very much alive today. Around every bend, new views of the surrounding peaks remind visitors of the close relationship between local people and their mountain environment.
Accessible in both directions between Risoul Village and Risoul 1850, the Historic Trail can also be enjoyed by using the summer shuttle bus, allowing you to complete the route without retracing your steps.
An ideal hike for anyone wishing to combine beautiful scenery, local history and mountain heritage in a single outing.
